The problem

Lighting control comes two ways. A full-size console is reliable, but expensive and enormous. A laptop running control software fits anywhere — and fails anywhere too. A dropped dongle or a frozen OS mid-show is a blackout in front of an audience.

The approach

Panther is purpose-built for the job. Eight DMX universes on a dedicated board with its own power rail, isolated from the computer and backed by a hardware watchdog that recovers in under half a second. Console-grade dependability, in 3.7 inches of desk.

3.7 tall.

A workstation in a low-profile enclosure. Sits on a desk, slides under a monitor, or stacks into a road case beside existing rack gear.

Same backbone. Your numbers.

Every Panther ships with the same DMX board, processor, and graphics. Storage and memory are your call — set the build, watch the total, reserve it.

Is Panther a lighting console?
No — it's a workstation. A console is dedicated hardware locked to one manufacturer's software. Panther is a professional Windows machine with the DMX outputs built in: it runs the software you choose, and you add a physical control surface if you want one.
Does it run my software — grandMA3 onPC, ETC Nomad, Capture, MagicQ, Resolume?
Yes. Panther is a full Windows desktop, so it runs any Windows lighting or visualization application, and it outputs from anything that speaks sACN or Art-Net. It fits the workflow you already have instead of replacing it.
Why not just a laptop and a USB-DMX adapter?
That setup works until it doesn't. An adapter shares a USB bus with everything else plugged into the machine, and the computer's main job competes with pushing signal. Panther's DMX lives on a dedicated board with per-universe galvanic isolation, its own power rail, and a hardware watchdog. Integration is what buys the reliability.
What happens if the computer crashes mid-show?
The DMX board runs on its own power rail, isolated from the host, and recovers in under 500 ms from a host hang. Per-universe failsafe holds the last look, fades, or jumps to a preset — the rig stays lit.
Windows, for a live show?
Deliberately — Windows is what runs the professional software. We harden it for show use: updates are locked during shows, and Undying Station's Show Time mode quiets background apps. And because the DMX board has its own power and watchdog, the output doesn't depend on the OS to stay alive. Reliability lives on the board, not at the mercy of the operating system.
What does $6,000 actually replace?
The usual stack: a console for output, a separate computer for visualization, external DMX nodes to reach the rig — and often per-seat software fees on top. Panther is one box that covers all three jobs, and Undying Station is included with no license and no subscription. Schools, rental houses, and multi-unit orders get custom pricing — contact us.
Can I change the configuration?
Storage and memory are set when you reserve — build yours here. The DMX board, processor, and graphics are the same in every unit. The deposit is $500 regardless of build.
What exactly does the $500 deposit commit me to?
Nothing you can't undo. The deposit is fully refundable until production begins on your unit, you get at least 14 days' email notice before the balance is charged, and if our ship estimate slips past Q2 2027 you can cancel for a full refund. Payments run through Stripe — your card details never touch our servers. See the pre-order terms.
